Default pelosi looks to shield lawmakers from the law

    http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009...ronts-justice/

Every single democrat on the face of this nation should immediately start calling and writing pelosi telling her to shut her fucking mouth and deal with the consequences of her own actions.
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

This is just typical politian's bullshit. Ever read about the nightmare of the congressional checking system? They also get to write bills that include pay raises for themselves? They get a sweet retirement deal while they pass laws on retirement systems and social security that do not effect them.

This has been going on for years.

But yes, Pelosi should be called out on this.

Actually, no it isn't. It's more akin to the same thing that Denny Hastert complained that the Bush DoJ did.

This is yet another chapter in a long story about Congress trying to protect itself from what it views as unwarranted intrusion by the Executive Branch.

Having said that, while I understand the unique footing that members of Congress have by virtue of the Constitution, they shouldn't pass any laws that they wouldn't want applied against them and should shut the fuck up when the laws that they support end up biting them in the ass.

They can give themselves pay raises, but the longest standing (finally ratified) un-ratified constitutional amendment (and I believe the reason that more modern amendments have expiration dates) makes it so that they cannot gain the raise until after the next congressional elections. (This would have protected against things like the retroactive pay raise during Grant's tenure.) It was proposed with the first 10 Amendments, but only ratified sometime in the 1980s I believe.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

Congress's pay should be linked to the average Wage (not income). This would give them a vested interest in the entire country doing better.
Bush doubled the debt from 5 trillion to 10 trillion.
    Proving tax cuts work!

Bush asked for and signed for the TARP money.
The Republican senate leader backed Bush on this.
