Default Russian military convoy near Kyiv is more than 40 miles long, according to satellite

New satellite images from Maxar Technologies show the Russian military convoy that has reached the outskirts of Kyiv is even longer than it previously measured.

Maxar said late Monday the convoy is more than 40 miles long. Earlier Monday, Maxar said the convoy took up roughly 17 miles of roadway.

Maxar told CNN earlier Monday the large military convoy consisted of armored vehicles, tanks, towed artillery and other logistical vehicles.

Maxar attributed the updated convoy length to additional satellite imagery they collected and analyzed. Maxar said data and imagery taken Monday shows the convoy stretches from the Antonov airbase — about 17 miles from Kyiv's city center — to just north of Pribyrsk, Ukraine.

To put a point on how far away Pribyrsk is from the Ukrainian capital, the small town is closer to the Ukraine-Belarus border and the failed nuclear reactor at Chernobyl than to Kyiv.

Damn, that's hardcore having to go through Chernobyl to get to a battle, that's gotta suck.

It's pretty safe now to visit. Wouldn't recommend staying there long.

    Or you'll turn into this.

One drone takes care of the whole mess. Not sure what everyone is waiting for?

    Good question.

Maybe they're just waiting for the right time. Maybe waiting on civilians to full evacuate the areas.

It seems that NATO is not going to do anything but supply equipment/weapons until NATO blood is drawn by Putin. Perhaps they are going to booby trap the road ahead of that convoy?

This ploy by Russia seems to be conducted with the knowledge that there will be no air support. That convoy is nothing but one big sitting duck.

So do you think NATO should launch an attack? They are crippling the Russian economy. That may be why Trump's buddy Putin is going all in. He probably thought he could run over Ukraine with little resistance. Now he has seen how wrong that is.
So a 40-mile long convoy is headed into battle. The Russian people are demonstrating. Bankers and wealthy people are arguing with him. This is not how it was supposed to go. This will result in billions spent and lots of lives lost. If he takes over Ukraine he will face an insurgency. They will be bogged down and spend millions over and over.

    I understand, and agree.

It's quite possible that we don't know what the Ukraine military has in mind for the convoy. But the moment it reaches its destination, this gets ugly. Putin is already using weaponry that is illegal around the world, save for Russia.
