China Evergrande Group is one of the largest property development companies in the country. It has seen enormous growth since it was established in 1996, when it was called the Hengda Group. Today its debt-to-asset ratio exceeds 80%, presenting obvious exposure. Until now, investors ignored the risks in Evergrande corporate bonds or shares.

China might think they can get away with that. The reality is that key investors are almost always not that key. Most of the money, and the market forces come from the common investors: people like you and me. When a government comes in and bails out the "key investors" while telling the rest "screw you", we stop investing, and the economy goes to hell.

China is destroying their own economy by following the Republican playbook. It becomes like vaccines and the rest. We will warn them of the long term damage they are doing, and they will ignore us. It is their decision.

If they do nationalize most of private industry, China like every other Communist nation has doomed their economy. No matter how successful a business was in private hands, rest assured the government bureaucrats managing it will turn it into an unprofitable wasteland in no time short...

Yeah OK, you know we've heard this refrain for decades, but the truth is the only economy that collapsed was ours.

And it collapsed 3 times in 20 years, and 4 times in 30 years.

Every collapse happened when a Republican was President.
