The same article states "The average performance of homeschoolers is 22.8 out of 36 points compared to the national average of 21." Not much difference (1.8 points).

That applies to elementary and secondary home schooling. At the university level most parents are incapable of teaching advance courses most know nothing about. It is in these advance STEM classes that allows the U. S. to compete.

So you agree that homeschoolers out preform those taught in public schools. THANKS

That's my understanding too. College presidents nowadays don't know anything about education. They are fundraisers and lobbyists and hired for their "connections". Shouldn't be like that but it is.

Here's the simplistic version:

1. Universities are there to make money. That can mean salaries as well as simple profit. There is no distinction between public and private universities in this case.

2. If you can pay $100 for a course the university charges $100 for a course.

3. If the government steps in and offers you a $100 loan to take that course, the university realizes you can pay $200 for that course.

4. The university makes getting the government money easy and you pay $200 for the course.

The bottom line is that the more government is willing to pay for college education, the more a college education will cost.

Ok, maybe I was misunderstanding your point. As arguably the most powerful person on the planet I suppose one can argue the President should be the highest paid public servant in the country. And while they do have many perks beyond their salary, $400K is obviously not all that much. Someone who has a better understanding of history than I can explain how we got that salary amount for the President. But I don't see an issue that some University President's make more than the POTUS.

It's not government willing to pay for college education, it's government (and private banks) loaning money out to people to pay for college education, when government can just skip that step and make colleges tuition free.

Doing so will save everyone in the long run...except for the private schools that rely on fundraising.
