Nobody knows the rules for certain. Many people assumed that immunity would be forever, or at least a long time, but that is looking less and less likely. The current best guess is immunity last for a few months, and is completely gone in a year.
This is unexpected and dreadful news, but just because we do not like the facts does not mean it does not exist.
