I am not buying that rural West Virginia went from being the state with the lowest vaccination rate three weeks ago, to the state with one of the highest vaccination rates today.

It is pretty fishy.

Glad you got 2 shots. The current regimen is 3.

There is no Constitutional right to refuse shots. If a state wished to mandate that everyone in the state get the shots they would be perfectly within their Constitutional rights to do that. Even today's SCOTUS agrees. The precedent was set in the 1905 Jacobson decision. The right of the public to be safe from disease exceeds the right of the individual to refuse a mandated vaccine.

New York now requires all health care workers to get vaccinated. If you refuse you can't work. It would not surprise me if New York did impose a general mandate during the upcoming Omicron wave. Or at least follow in California's footsteps. Omicron stands the very real probability of blowing away any previously set numbers of cases. We currently have more active cases of COVID than we have ever had. Over 10 Million:

If the only people that people under 50 are thinking of, is themselves, then that is an understandable response.

The problem is the same as the reason for creating distancing in schools. The young and healthy often don't even feel any symptoms and may not even know they have a case at all. Great for them. The problem is: That doesn't prevent them from passing the disease on to others who could end up dead.

So no, that is unacceptable. Individual right of freedom from mandates and social requirements does not overrule the public right to safety. It is actually the other way around.

Delta doubled the number of cases every 2-3 weeks.

Omicron is doing it in 3 days.

It looks like we are in for the likes of something we have not seen yet.

This vaccination of the young is NOTHING to do with protecting them.

That is the REAL reason.

1) It doesn't matter what disease. The SCOTUS has twice ruled in favor of vaccine mandates. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The law is enforced.

2) Moot point. Children still die of COVID. One heartbroken unvaccinated mother in Texas went to wake up her 4yo little girl whom she had been treating for symptoms the day before. Couldn't wake her up. She was dead. The mother felt horrible. She wished she had gotten the vaccine. She went ahead and got it. Just too late to save her daughter. Most children don't die. Some do. We didn't need to lose the 655.

3) Whataboutism. Nothing to do with COVID.
