yes, but they did not have all of the exemptions and deductions that are in the tax code today. But then, and now, no one pays that top rate because the dems have filled the tax code with income reductions to help their rich donors. The tax code today is the product of 80 years of democrat control of congress. THEY wrote the tax code that you seem to hate so much.

I do not think it was only the Democrats who filled it with reductions to help the rich... but they need to be removed and we should get back to an historical tax rate for the wealthy for back when we did not have such debt.
