They believe in a lie and will not give it up. Rightys do not say "numerous recounts and court cases did not back up the claims. Having free access to the ballots and machines did not back up the claims". Therefore the claims are wrong. They say they just know deep in their orange hearts that Trump was cheated. The only negligible cases of vote fraud uncovered in the past year, were Trump supporters trying to vote twice.

So a plurality of Republicans do not even believe in Democracy or are willing to defend it.

Which is why Soviet leaders were completely justified laughing in Ronald Reagan's face when he attempted to lecture them on the benefits of democracy and free and fair elections.
