We could do a lot more to reduce the incidence of cancer, but I don't think the Trump Party would like it very much.
We would want to change our food, lifestyles and healthcare systems.
And we should also begin regulating the chemical industry tighter.
Food and drugs have to withstand great scrutiny for safety before being allowed on the market. And still, we don't eat very healthy. We need to incentivize healthy eating habits. It is good that we have any scrutiny at all over what the nation eats. We can thank Democrats for making our food safer.
But chemicals do not much safety scrutiny at all.
Corporations can come up with all kinds of new chemicals; anything they can think of; and just begin selling them with very little oversight. There is no approval process. It doesn't matter if it is dangerous or cancer-causing or not. Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if it will make a profit for a big corporation.
That's why we have so many cancer-causing products on the market.
The chemical industry basically 'went to school' on the saga of the tobacco industry. The chemical industry saw what happened to big tobacco and realized that the same thing could happen to them unless they acted. And act, they did. The chemical industry poured tons of cash into Washington DC to make sure they never suffer the same fate as big tobacco.
You may have noticed labels in some products that say they are known to cause cancer in the State of California. That's just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many products containing untested chemicals that cause cancer it is impossible to count them all.
Modern Americans typically contain hundreds of trace chemicals in their bodies, virtually everyone, you and I and almost every other American, which can cause cancer and are not regulated. It's in the things we eat, the things we wear, and the things we buy and put into our homes. Our homes and cars are made of cancer-causing materials and chemicals.
And we are not very good about maintaining healthy lifestyles.
We should regulate more strictly the things we buy and eat, and all the things we are normally exposed to.
We should incentivize healthier lifestyles.
And we need a healthcare system with the primary focus of making the American populace as healthy as possible, instead of our current healthcare system which is focused on generating great profits for the owners of great capital.
That will involve mixing a lot more socialism in with our capitalism.
But if we do so, it will make America greater.
