Right-wing politicians have had the obsession of glorifying violence, wanting to express their own fantasies of it.
There have been incidents of actual violence committed by those on the right, but other than that it's been verbal violence, or an implication to use violence. Republican Rep. Paul Gosar put out an infantile example of implied violence when he shared a photoshopped anime video showing him killing Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The video uses the anime series called Attack on Titan, which is about the "heroes" doing battle with giants called titans who eat humans. AOC's head is photoshopped on one the the "villians" and Gosar's appears on one of the "good guys."
There's also the heads of other politicians, both Republican and Democrat, appearing on various characters.
After the video received millions of views there was outrage expressed against Gosar. AOC herself responded to the video in a Tweet: "So while I was en route to Glasgow, a creepy member I work with who fundraises for Neo-Nazi groups shared a fantasy video of him killing me. And he'll face no consequences bc [a GOP leader] cheers him on with excuses. Fun Monday!
Well, back to work bc institutions don't protect woc." Another example is the tweet of Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu: "This is sick behavior from Rep. Gosar. In any workplace in America, if a co-worker made an anime killing another co-worker, that person would be fired." And in another tweet, this time from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, she called for an investigation by law enforcement.
