Thumbs down Stupid Repubs and Democrats Now Seek to Interfere in Football

Notice I blame all parties when they SHOULD be both blamed.
Jeez is there anywhere they don't want government to stick its nose in?

"Everyone from President Barack Obama on down to fans has criticized how college football determines its top team. Now senators are getting off the sidelines to examine antitrust issues involving the Bowl Champion Series.
The current system "leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year," the Senate Judiciary's subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights said in a statement Wednesday announcing the hearings.

Under the BCS, some conferences get automatic bids to participate in series, while others do not.

Obama and some members of Congress favor a playoff-type system to determine the national champion. The BCS features a championship game between the two top teams in the BCS standings, based on two polls and six computer ratings.
Behind the push for the hearings is the subcommittee's top Republican, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah. People there were furious that Utah was bypassed for the national championship despite going undefeated in the regular season. "

If he had used this as a platform in his campaign he would have won by a much larger margin.

If Congress can waste a huge amount of time one the Steroids in Baseball nonsense, they can certainly spend a little time taking care of a serious issue like the unfair BCS championship bullshit.

This may be the most worthwhile work Obama does in his first term.

He's from fricking Utah. Still thinking they should have been national champs.
    What a waste of time.

I don't think Utah should have been the National Champs, but I can see why they (of all the teams) would want a playoff.

No one beat them all year, and they manhandled the team that played the Gators down to the wire.

I'd love to have seen playoffs this year.

But Top and Cawacko, you guys can't tell me that you don't want a playoff format for NCAA football.

It would finally put the bullshit to rest and allow a true champions to be named on the field instead of on the desks of sports writers.

Utah and usc should have to play people outside their high school district.

Keep the bowl games! Make them the playof games. And have a set for the championship and a set for the rest of the bowl games.

Like basketball does, they have the NCAA championship playoffs and the NIT playoffs for the "also rans".

And Top, Utah beat the hell out of the team that won the western div of the SEC. That counts for something.

A few years into the inevitable playoff system, people will wonder how the world existed without it.

It seems like there is controversy every year w/out it.

I believe he did talk about it in an interview with Chris Berman prior to the election. I don't believe it made it into his stump speech though.

you mean Dano finally started a thread that both lefties and righties are incensed about?

    holy shit.
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.
