The tension in America is between the top 1 percent and the rest of us. The Republican party works for them. We would have universal healthcare, but the wealthy want that money. Our infrastructure is crumbling, because that money belongs to them.
Until we find a way to stand up to the super-wealthy, we will lose more and more. The wealth gap is beyond any in our history including the Gilded Age. We are not at war but increased the military budget. That is more money flowing up to military contractors.
Globalism is a fact. It cannot and will not end. However, some nations are suggesting a world tax to stop corporations from escaping taxes. That is a good start. Regulation of their despoiling land sea and air should follow.

Illegal immigrants depressed wages in Arizona to the tune of $1.4 billion in 2006 and dipped lower-skilled legal workers' pay by 4.7 percent.

That is according to a study by a Harvard University economist commissioned by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. The MCAO had the study done as part of its defense of the state's new employer sanctions law.

Anew authoritative study released by the National Academy of Sciences shows that mass immigration drives down annual wages by 5.2% for native-born workers who are in direct competition with immigrants for jobs while costing taxpayers around $299 billion in public services. The study found that the net economic benefit of mass immigration is around $55 billion but that money results from a $500 billion wage transfer from low-skilled workers to businesses.
