Default GA jails racist prosecutor in Ahmaud Arbery case

The former prosecutor charged with misconduct in the Ahmaud Arbery case was booked into a Georgia jail the same day three men were convicted of murdering the Black jogger.

Former Brunswick Judicial Circuit district attorney Jackie Johnson turned herself in Wednesday morning at the Glynn County jail and later released on her own recognizance after she was indicted last week on a felony charge of violating her oath of office and a misdemeanor count of obstructing police, reported the Associated Press.

The 49-year-old Johnson allegedly used her authority to discourage police from making arrests in the 25-year-old Arbery's killing

Officers of the court who violate the law should be prosecuted beyond normal people.

    FYI ...

(Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly claimed that Jackie Johnson was booked into jail the same day three men were convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery. She was booked in September.)

Any attorney appearing in court is an officer of the court, especially prosecutors. For an officer of the court to commit a fraud on the court is a big deal. For instance, they cannot say something they know to be untrue.

If you tell your defense attorney you are guilty, he is not allowed to say you are innocent in court. His obligation not to commit a fraud on the court supersedes his obligation to give you the best defense possible.

Nope. They are just attorneys. They are expected to represent their client in the court and conform to court rules.

Attorneys say untrue stuff all the time. If they get caught at it, of course, they are held up on perjury or contempt charges. They are not there to make any statements. They are there to get others to make statements and present evidence.

Seriously, attorneys in a court are considered officers of the court. If they lie, it is worse than common perjury, it is committing a fraud upon the court. This, like so much else that you "debate" is not worth debating. It is just simple facts.

That is not true either. A defense attorney can defend someone that has said he is guilty. And the defense attorney is usually not even allowed to disclose the admission.

Since when is that a crime. ?? Prosecutor do that all the time - advise the cops that the case is not strong enough to warrant arrest. And in this case she was right. The mcmichaels would have been found not guilty if the corrupt judge had allowed the defense to tell the jurors about arbery's criminal past. The judge belongs in prison.

No, they are not. They are just attorneys. Putting the word 'seriously' in front of your statement does not make it True.

It is not the attorney's place to make a statement. Their purpose is to get others to make statements and submit evidence to the court. Even their opening and closing arguments are nothing more than what they are going to do and what they have done. Anything is not following the rules of most any court.

Buzzword fallacy. Learn what 'fact' means. It does not mean 'proof' or 'Universal Truth'.

If he is doing so, he is going against this client's wishes. The client can actually sue an attorney for this.

He is required to represent his client.

Not a factor. NONE of the three men knew about Abery's past or cared. They even said so in open court. Abery is a proper noun. It is capitalized. The judge acted correctly.

On what charge? The judge is not on trial here, nor did he render any verdict. The jury did.
