Speaking outside a courthouse in Glynn County, Georgia, Reverend Al Sharpton said Wednesday's guilty verdict in the case of Ahmaud Arbery's murder signaled that the almost all-white jury decided that "Black lives do matter."


"A jury of 11 whites and one Black, in the Deep South, stood up in the courtroom and said that Black lives do matter," Sharpton said at a press conference.


Sharpton thanked everyone who marched in the Black Lives Matter protests demanding justice for Arbery and his family and for marching and rallying outside of the courthouse, despite comments from the defendants' defense attorneys referring to them as a "lynch mob."

"They kept on marching and let us know that all whites are not racists and all the Blacks are not worthless," he said.

There's a lot of fake news in this.

BLM is a lynch mob. They were there to pressure the jury and the judge. There is no excuse for this kind of hatred or racism.

The case itself was based on racism by the accused.

According to what was presented in this case, the accused saw a black kid running through their neighborhood. This kid (Arbery) liked to run for exercise, being on the high school football team.

At some point, Arbery enters a house under construction, then leaves. Nothing was stolen from the house and nothing was vandalized.

The accused got their guns, got into their pickup, and chased Arbery around the neighborhood, using the truck as a weapon; finally cornering Arbery. They then got out with their guns drawn and approached Arbery. Arbery, in an act of self defense, tried to grab one of the guns, a shot gun. The accused fired the gun, and Arbery was killed.

The jury ruled that the accused men were guilty of murder. The case has now advanced to the sentencing phase. Under GA law, the maximum penalty is death by lethal injection (which would require a unanimous jury to sentence this).

Given the case as presented, the jury ruled correctly.

Very similar. Wisconsin cops feared a black man who may or may not have had a pocket knife so much, they shot him in the back 7 times, with the blessing of the legal system. That shooting prompted the protests where Shithead went hunting.
Those same cops thought nothing of letting a little racist kid march the streets looking for someone to murder.

The good ole boys in Ga. tried to use the same defense that Shittenhouse did, but it didn't work.

Yes, but you are overlooking the whole what the hell is some jerk doing with an assault weapon in some other town at night on a mission to be a pretend cop thing,
which is a but for i.e. logical cause of the shootings. The law is an ass on that one, even in the best light. You should not be able to bring weapons to a political rally
any more than you should be able to bring that AR into a pro football stadium.

He went there and got a AR 15. That is not how peace and non-violence are achieved. He seemed to have accomplished his mission. What property did he protect and how well did he do it, since the people he was blasting away at stole nothing.
