Default Capital Punishment vs. Life Imprisonment w/o Parole

Morally speaking, I offer no objection to capital punishment. What you reap is what you sow. If you kill a fellow human being without cause, you have proven that you are incapable of functioning as a member of society. Furthermore, I have no problem whatsoever with the execution of rapists/child molesters.

That said, I'm not comfortable with the government (especially the Federal gov't) exercising such broad authority. Surely it would be better to simply replace capital punishment with life without parole. This would eliminate the possibility of executing an innocent person while permanently removing violent criminals from society.

But at the end of the day, I'm not losing sleep over this issue.

Crime issues are probably the only issues I really actually despise discussing. It stresses me out talking about them.

I voted no, because I believe there are just some cases that scream for it. This does not mean I don' think improvments to how cases are prosecuted are not in need of more oversight and scrutiny.

Do you know the stats for capital cases that have been overturned due to bad evidence?
