Instead of removing monuments to Confederate Leaders in Southern Cities why not do what they did in Franklin, TN. Build monuments to the Colored US Soldiers of the Civil War who escaped slavery and enlisted in the US Army and fought to end slavery. The idea had 100% support of the Franklin City Council.

Anybody good with monuments to 'Colored Soldiers' for the Confederacy?

Or we could just build schools and hospitals instead of putting up any monuments at all.

Sure. If you can find any that actually did. The Confederacy approved the use of Soldiers one whole month before the war ended and none who actually volunteered, if any, never served in combat roles. So no black soldiers fought actually fought for the Confederacy. So spare us this canard.

As Lee said, keeping the old wounds alive will make it impossible to heal. The idiots running around with Confed flags show Lee was correct.
He said " I think it wiser not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feelings engendered."
He was right. 150 years later the south has not let go.
