Answering a surveyor's question, people will say they "heard about" the subject so as to appear reasonably informed, but if asked to say what they thought about the subject it often will become clear they don't know the first thing about it. I would be surprised if more than ten percent of American adults could even tell you what "Cancel Culture" is without a fortunate blind guess.

I agree. It's a catch phrase used most often by RWers whenever there's a boycott, #TRE45ON gets tossed off another platform for violating TOS, or some racist asshole gets fired for being a racist asshole. People who don't follow politics much, especially on forums like this, have little idea what it really is. And they don't care, either.

Most of my more outspoken lefty friends on social media have had at least one time-out for opinions expressed in a way that violated the TOS, or so they were told. A number of anti-vax ppl I know have had posts removed for misinformation, as well. They are not lefties.

there are some. but Twitter and Social media are biased left..publishing anything about alternatives to the jab is cancelled. (ex.) Im going on what I know - hard to find documentation either way.

My beef is the restriction of political speech on ANYONE - even though these are private companies they act like a public square.
"fact checking" is inherently biased, de-platforming is unevenly enforced.

These are businesses. In the U.S., the sole purpose of a business is to make money. If they allow hate speech, outright lies (most of the anti-vax stuff, "stop the steal," etc.), they lose advertisers and thus they lose money.

Don't like it? Start your own Twitter or Facebook or Parler.

BTW, unless you are willing to call out OANN, Fox, Newsmax, etc. on *their* bias and lies, you probably shouldn't be complaining about perceived bias elsewhere.
