You should have been taught that the slaughter of Jews is known as ' the Shoah ' and that of the Gypsies as ' the Devouring ' etc., components of the overall Holocaust . The Holocaust was never a Jewish-only episode, Jews forming fewer than a third of its victims.
This is part of it. There were also concentration camps for undesirable political and economic prisoners who were against the régime but weren't to be exterminated. An example of that is Dachau, one of the earliest and longest operating camps. Prisoners there were often allowed to continue to do some work / research on whatever they were good at for the Nazis in return for some special treatment.

Curt Herzstark, is an example of this. He was allowed to continue to develop his mechanical, hand-held, calculator. He worked on it for years always with an excuse it didn't quite work right until freed in 1945. Then he started making them after the war.

Thanks for the brief history lesson. I did not know this.

When we ended slavery, the abuse rape, and murder continued. We had laws to stop blacks from voting. We had police allow whites to mistreat and protect the KKK and other groups.
Up north we had many abuses. Some northern states had huge KKK membership. Trump's father marched in a KKK demonstration down 5th avenue.
We still have redlining. The south is trying to stop blacks from exercising their voting rights. Voter repression has existed since the Emancipation Proclamation.
Why can't we just face who we are and try to do better?
Because that would involve RWers having to realize that just because they're white, they're no better than anyone else. Anything that suggests the history you just related must be whitewashed, pun intended.

Nah. Schools aren't really interested in teaching all sides. Only the sides they consider 'correct'.

The whole CRT concept is based on racism.

I'm surprised you think teaching the political ideology of critical race theory is appropriate in public schools.

Racism is bad. Is that too complex for a history class?

Racism as history is very different than CRT which is more sociology and contains controversial claims; unless you mean real CRT which is a law school topic dealing with discriminatory laws and those with a disparate impact.

History would include slavery, Reconstruction, segregation and the civil rights movement.
