    Default Governments roll with private business?

    In a Capitalist system, the government's roll in business is an interesting question.

    In America, the 14th Amendment states that... "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

    So we have justification and an argument that when the State makes a law they must apply it evenly and equally.

    If we allow straight people to get married, we must also allow gay people to get married. If we pay for public schools for white people we must allow equal access to black people.

    An interesting question is where is governments proper roll when it comes to how corporations and business must behave. The States pass laws that provide access to stores and restaurants by spending money to build roads, ensure the supply chain, and ensure the safety of food at restaurants; dont forget the tax breaks many companies get. Tax dollars are spent on these actions that greatly benefit business and in most cases make them possible to exist at all.

    So is it the State's right to force equal access of the public to these businesses?

    In the 1960's the Courts said that laws forcing businesses to desegregate are Constitutional and in some cases required to allow equal protection of the law.
    More recently the Courts have said that if States allow marriage licenses for opposite sex couples, they must allow them for same sex couples.

    Then the Courts ruled that a Bakery cannot be required to sell its wedding cakes to homosexual couples.

    Now, the Republican Governors of TEXAS and FLORIDA have issued executive orders prohibiting businesses from requiring vaccines of its employees and prohibiting them from excluding unvaccinated customers from its services.



    Where do you stand on this issue? Is it okay for the government to force private businesses to sell cakes to anyone who wants to pay?

    Is it okay for Government to require a cafe to allow black people to eat there?

    Is it okay for Government to decide vaccine policy for its employees?

    Is it okay for Government to force hotels and cruise lines to allow unvaccinated people to use their services?

    A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

    'Business' is regulated by the government in numerous ways (like Health & Safety, Taxes, etc.)
    So, it seems 'Business' can operate within the US by following whatever Rules are mandated.

    this only became possible after one of the most egregious and anti constitutional rulings of Wickard v. Filburn

    the commerce clause, as originally intended, has been all but obliterated allowing total federal power. the founders would be stacking bodies over that.
    A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

    The 'Robber Barons' of the early 1900s had to be forced into 'competition'. Otherwise you would have one Mega Company controlling the 'Market'.
