    That's right.

It strikes me that being overly sensitive to wokeness is just as bad as wokeness. Anyone looking THAT hard for a reason to be offended is awfully thin skinned. Just my take. We'd be better off if every incident was judged on the merits.

How do you think he's (attempting to) redefine the word?

Regarding you last sentence, did you watch the video? (not that you have to I'm just trying to understand where you are coming from here)

All the word "woke" means is being aware of injustice. That's it. Anything extra is just a right wing bullshit baggage.

I personally don't see it as being thinned skin. A lot of things in life start off with good intentions and even good results but then go too far. That could be said for wokeness and now there's the inevitable push back. But what sticks out to me is when this push back has started to come from some on the left.

I agree with you about judging things on its merit but that could almost be described as a color blind attitude. From an anti-racist mindset color blindness is not acceptable.

Most of us know what the dictionary definition of woke means. There's not really dispute over that. It's how its put into practice (the real world) that the discussion is about. And that's I posted McWhorter's clip, because people try to write off as right-wing bullshit like you did when there are people on the left calling out its extremes as well (McWhorter is far from the only one).

So he's calling out the SJW nutjobs and the entitled black people? Well that's nothing earthshattering.

John McWhorter isn't the end all be all of the woke discussion/debate. But for someone who is not really familiar with it he does an excellent job, imo, of breaking it down. This was just a 10 minutes clip. He's written books about it and multiple columns in the NY Times on the topic.

In this time of racial reckoning as people say in our post George Floyd world this is a very relevant and front burner topic.

Of course it is. However, what happened to Floyd was injustice. That can not be denied.

This is where it becomes apparent that you and I trend toward the middle. Some of the 'woke' stuff is absolute bullshit. But some of it isn't. And some ability to discern spirit and relative harm is helpful. Intentions can't simply be ignored, but the woke movement does love itself some self righteousness. But the same does go for some of the militant anti-woke stuff.

I don’t know how old you are, but as a Senior, I’ve seen overreach on many issues to compensate for a lack of action in the past. It generally returns to a more moderate position in time.

Yes, dems have run away from defund the cops movement in the aftermath of the Floyd murder.
