We get anything from a powder to the heavy snow you mention, it depends on the temp. When it's well below freezing, it's usually light and powdery, the closer to 32F, the heaver it gets and the blower becomes useless.
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

They tried the same stunt back in 2003, didn't work then and I doubt it will work now.

Recent NIMBY Move Could Leave California in the Dark

California legislators have not only cut ties with reality—failing to see that they’re heading for ever more blackouts—they also want to cut their citizens’ last lifeline to reliable power when blackouts inevitably occur

“Excuse me,” says your landscaper. “The mower’s out of juice. Mind if I plug in?” You look from the immobile machine to your half-cut lawn. “Outlet’s over there,” you tell him. “But let’s knock $20 off your fee? What are we up to now, 25 cents a kilowatt-hour?”

Welcome to the future. Welcome to California.

The state, committed to net-zero emissions by 2045, is moving to ban sales of gas-powered landscaping equipment as early as 2024. This is not the first attempt. Politicians tried and failed to do the same in 2003. Since then, though, more than half of homeowners in the state have swapped out their consumer-grade equipment for “zero emission equipment” (ZEE), meaning, battery-powered weed whackers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, and even lawn mowers.

    Electric, Because It’s . . . Quiet?
Many make the switch because, although lower-powered and less reliable (do batteries ever die at the right time?), battery-powered equipment is less noisy. That’s what prompted Mayor Stewart Welch of Mountain Brook, Alabama to begin switching his town’s tools over to electric. The bellow of leaf blowers disturbed his tennis game with a friend who, as chance would have it, had previously complained about the town’s noisy equipment. The city has spent $18,000 over the last year outfitting its public works crew with electric trimmers, blowers, and more.

According to Stanley Black & Decker, sales of the company’s electric yard equipment jumped 75 percent between 2015 and 2020. But, although lots of people are making the switch of their own accord, they’re not doing it fast enough, according to California’s legislative assembly.

Texas power outages were largely due to wind generators required by liberal fucks like you are not able to operate in freezing weather, and natural gas lines were actually getting chunks of ice clogging up the lines. That kind of freeze is VERY unusual for Texas, a record breaker. Not so for the SOTC blackouts.
due to wind generators? are you fucking nuts? good god, you are so fucking stupid!! how can wind generators cause such a widespread blackout when only about 20% of the power in texas is wind power? AND NOBODY FORCED ENERGY PROVIDERS TO USED WIND POWER, ASSHOLE, THEY DID IT TO MAKE MORE PROFIT, YOU PIECE OF SHIT MORON. why did states north of us and with colder temps but on the national grid, not be paralyzed by the cold snap, bitch? because texas has refused to force their energy providers to protect natural gas supplies from the occasional cold snap because it might eat in their huge profits. REPUBLICAN GREED AT WORK, ASSHOLE.

Public figures who amplified this narrative include Tucker Carlson, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and U.S. House member Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia.

On Feb. 14, Carlson began telling his viewers that “a reckless reliance on windmills is the cause of this disaster,” claiming that “the windmills froze, so the power grid failed” (here). The following day, Abbott said in an interview that the crisis in Texas “shows how the Green New Deal would be a deadly deal for the United States of America” (here).

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, freshman Representative Greene tweeted, “If passed, the Green New Deal will literally kill people. Millions of people have suffered in TX with #rollingblackouts & some died bc of reliance on ‘green’ energy. Increasing the use & banning the export of clean & plentiful reliabale (sic) natural gas for electricity is saving TX” (here).

    THE TEXAS POWER GRID
Texas is the only state in the continental United States that runs a stand-alone electricity grid (here).

The problem? It means during critical weather events like the storm, most of Texas cannot connect to other grids, which are connected and draw from each other when needed. Overall, around 4.4 million customers were without power.

The grid, operated by ERCOT, is not subject to federal oversight and is largely dependent on its own resources, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Texas’ deregulated energy market gives little financial incentives for operators to prepare for the rare bout of intensely cold weather, critics have said for years.

Natural gas wells and pipelines in Texas, the country’s biggest energy-producing state, do not undergo the winterization of those farther north - resulting in many being knocked offline by the prolonged freezing weather (here).

The storm has knocked about a third of the state’s generating capacity offline. Contrary to comments made by Marjorie Taylor Greene and others, the power grid in Texas relies heavily on natural gas, responsible for nearly half the electricity generated (here).

In an official statement on Feb. 15, ERCOT said that “extreme weather conditions caused many generating units – across fuel types – to trip offline and become unavailable” (here).

As reported here by the Texas Tribune on Feb. 16, ERCOT said that thermal sources, such as coal, gas and nuclear, lost nearly twice as much power due to the cold than renewable energy sources, which contributed to just 13% of the power outages (here).

As temperatures drop to record lows, a phenomenon known as “freeze-off” is hitting parts of Texas hard, according to a report from The Verge (here). Due to natural gas wells and pipes that are ill-equipped for cold weather, “liquid inside wells, pipes, and valves froze solid.”

Leaf blowers, like Primavera's Chinese moped, have extremely dirty engines.
I read one leaf blower if equivalent to about 20 cars. Republicans don't care. The entire
    world is their ashtray.

State governments are far more involved in their states’ electricity markets than they should be, and none shows the folly of centralized control more than California.

California’s convoluted workaround for its power supply woes takes the form of a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) decision that would allow the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) to use power intended for other states in an emergency.

The ruling changes tariff rules for CAISO and allows it to block energy destined for other states from crossing its border and then repurchase this power for its own uses in a grid emergency.

One source that would be impacted by this is hydroelectric power from Oregon that has already been purchased by Arizona, and for which the state has transmission agreements with CAISO.

This decision could have serious consequences for grid reliability in other parts of the West because the power that comes through California can no longer be counted on in a situation where there is high energy demand.

This means that states that use energy transmitted through California can no longer count on that capacity in planning for peak load. Because it can no longer be counted on in a crisis, this capacity can no longer be factored into calculations for worst-case scenarios. The same conditions, namely major heat waves, that would cause California to keep back this energy for its own use would be those in which Arizona needed it the most. Instead of allowing energy to be bought and sold in a fair and open market, California is struggling to secure scarce power that has already been bought for itself. This situation provides a great lesson against state governments messing around with energy markets.

They gotta pay that power bill. Kinda difficult when the economy in the SOTC is going into the toilet.
