Nope. Atheists run the gamut just like the religious. There are good and bad. The whole spectrum is covered. There are people all the way from completely irresponsible and immoral right on up to the utmost of responsibility, the highest of morals and excellent highly productive citizens. Just like is seen within religion.

That has nothing to do with what I said.

I did not say atheists are bad people

I said atheism is simply a state of non-belief.

It does not have it's own consistent and established belief system, philosophy, or agreed-upon universal moral code..

I should have quoted the part of your post I was responding to. I was agreeing with your statement:

The umpteenth TDS thread. In the future, there will have to be scientific studies about it.

    It's a very strange phenomenon.

There is no system. there is no code.
People become atheists on their own. Once they hit the age of reason, they reject the silly inane crap the churches teach.
You figure out you are being told illogical crap. The corruption and greed of the churches turn you off too. The whole thing is a big mess and you wonder what you are doing there. Then you leave.
An example was the Catholic church knowing altar boys and kids were being raped by priests and they covered it up. That went totally the opposite of the principles the church is supposed to believe in. Any kid would think WTF, how do they get the right to teach me?
Evangelicals are also preaching to people they treat like suckers. They just want their money.
But then, money and power are what religion is about. When it is a choice between money and values, they choose money every time.
Why anyone has respect in religious institutions baffles me. They are being suckered and conned. That is why Trump is successful with phoney religious people. They have been conned their whole lives. The churches did most of the work for him.

    Thanks for the response.

I will say the same thing to you that I said to a bible thumper who was stereotyping atheists.

I generally do not find caricature and stereotype very convincing.

My personal choice is to try to write about religion, agnosticism, and atheism respectfully, deliberativly, and frankly without relying on caricature. And I have the posts to prove it.

If anyone wants to make a thread detailing the list of crimes carried out in the name of various religions (Christianity, Islam Hinduism, Judaism), churches, and in the name of state atheism (Soviet Union, French Revolution, Khmer Rouge, Maoist China) that would be an interesting thread.
