Government spending on infrastructure programs is not "socialism".

Socialism is government control of business and industry.

Not necessarily true. Socialism is where a community own and regulate the means of production, distribution and exchange.

Guess what? That's highways! We pay taxes and own them. The government just facilitates them.

Not quite right. Fascism is also socialism. Communism isn't the only form of socialism.

Fascism is government manipulation of markets, such as the energy market, the automotive market, the money market, etc.
Communism is government OWNERSHIP of markets, such as the welfare system, public schools, government health insurance, etc.

Both are theft of wealth. Both are socialism. Both require oppressive governments such as dictatorships and oligarchies to implement them. People don't want their wealth stolen.
