I expect that the Chinese have done their work well, and so Taiwan collapses from the inside out, it will be over within 24 after it starts. The military defenses are mostly a sham/fraud, the people of Taiwan know it, there will be nothing to gain from putting up a fight.
As for timing it is hard to say, this program of wearing the island people down could go on for a year or more.

China sent 20 aircraft, followed by a second wave hours later, toward Taiwan. It means that nearly 80 planes, including fighter jets and bombers, have now moved toward the democratically-run country in the last two days.
Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway province and claims that it is part of its own territory. The two countries split in 1949 and China has been increasing pressure on the self-ruled nation, while opposing its involvement in international organizations such as at the United Nations.

The first question has to do with strategic capabilities. The second has to do with obligations.
I will address the second issue first:
When it comes to World War II many people know about Germany but few people know about China. In fact, China was invaded by our enemy Japan. About a quarter of China was occupied by Japan. China was our friend in World War II and they helped us and we help them.
Now, after World War II, we spent billions protecting the freedom of our European allies but we didn't give Jack Shit about our Pacific friends. We did not allow Germany to be taken over by the communists but we DID allow China to be taken over by the communists. That is a stain on our honor.
When the communists took over, the legitimate Chinese government fled to Taiwan and has been there ever since. The nation of Taiwan is literally the government that we were friends with during World War II.
Will we make the same horrible immoral choice a second time? With the coward Marxist piece of shit Biden in charge, probably yes.
Remember the Berlin airlift? West Berlin, a tiny island in a see of communism, we did not let them down. But that fake usurper to office Pedophile Biden will.
And all that does not even address the strategic issue.
Read a map, and see how owning Taiwan would let China disrupt sea lane between Japan and Australia and the Philippines if it wanted to. They could cut off lanes to the South China Sea. It would give them far to large a footprint into the Pacific. That is also unacceptable.
