Lord, that sounds exactly like my ex in-laws from decades ago. He was a grotesquely obese, ignorant-and-proud-of-it (he made it through 3rd grade, no kidding) Archie-Bunker-without-the-humanity type. His wife was 10 years younger than he, and still worked FT in a factory that made the plastic wrappers on loaves of bread. It wasn't air-conditioned and she didn't drive, so she rode the bus, sweated all day, rode the hot bus home. They had a large old brick house on the outskirts of St. Louis, with one window a/c in the living room. He would turn it on for "poor King" (their dog) if King panted, but not for his wife. She did all the cooking, cleaning, yardwork, laundry, everything. While his fat ass sat in the recliner watching TV and yelling about the "n-words are taking over" and picking at the huge sore on his fat nose that turned out (there IS a god) to be cancer. As you might have guessed, I despised him. Ugh.

That's cool. I think my father passed away, maybe, in part because he didn't have avocations or hobbies when he slowed down his life's work.
I think many men do that. If you work your whole life and then suddenly someone hands you a gold watch and the phone stops ringing, what then?
Chase a golf ball, or feed the ducks? Sadly it appears many hit the keyboards in a daily fit of right wing rage. Can't be good for their vital signs.
