It is becoming increasingly apparent that Trump bought this plane for one purpose and one purpose only. To campaign for president. He bought it in 2011. He didn't use it much until his campaign took off in 2015. Then he used it extensively during his campaign and also used it as a backdrop for some of his rallies.

The plane costs nearly $11,000 an hour to fly it. All of the people donating to his campaign paid for that.

Now that his rallies are no longer drawing so many people, and he has so many legal expenses, he can no longer afford to fly it.

He has been slumming around in a much smaller Cessna executive jet that doesn't even have standing headroom. He owns the plane, but didn't even put a snazzy paint job on it, nor his name. I don't think he wants to be seen in a little plane.
Quite right. It is being phased out by a lot of airlines. It is cheaper to buy, but noticeably more expensive to fly.

Do you have any idea what it costs to park a plane for years? that plane is hemorrhaging money trump cannot afford. Hospitality and golf courses are losing money. He has huge lawyer bills.

Agreed on all aspects. It was always a status symbol for Trump trying to outdo Hugh Hefner's "Big Bunny". https://www.bosshunting.com.au/motor...s-playboy-jet/

Of course, Hugh wasn't a big pedo like Trump so Trump has him beat there. LOL

I would expect that whatever storage bills Trump's 757 is racking up are not being paid.

This aircraft is still extensively used. United and Southwest still use these aircraft actively in their fleets.

Depends on the airport and the type aircraft.
The plane is not 'hemorrhaging money'. It is being repaired and repainted. Trump can certainly afford the project.

The Citation is smaller, and a lot faster. It's good for getting into smaller airports too, which is why Trump uses it.

I was reading that airliners now run significantly slower than they did decades ago in order to save fuel...something like 20% slower....is this correct?

I cant recall anyone saying that before, but if true it is just one more reason why flying is nowhere near as fun as it used to be, in fact now it rather sucks unless one is First Class.

If Trump is actually getting Trump Force One in the air again, after he had decided to not, that is important news.

I'm guessing it'll never fly again. Trump will turn it into an extra show piece for his Presidential Library and Casino. Graceland has Elvis's jet on display too and everyone knows Trump has to be better than anyone to compensate for his..ahem...shortcomings. LOL

Some do. The use of spoilers on the wings and more efficient wingtip design (the cute little vertical fin at the wingtip) allows these guys to get up and down quickly. Jet engines are most efficient at altitude. Cruising there, they are the most efficient engine made. Railroad locomotives come in 2nd.
Airlines now treat their passengers largely like cattle. Seats have gotten smaller, they are spaced at a higher pitch (closer together), and even the crew, gate attendants, and other airport personnel are getting surly.

The airlines have become like the city bus, but with wings. Worse, they fly a hub and spoke pattern, often requiring you to transfer flights with little time for you (or your luggage!) to make the next connecting flight. Pack as light as possible into a small carry on bag. Your luggage might arrive a day behind you! Most people pack way too much for a trip. Don't be that guy shoving a steamer trunk into the overhead bins while everyone else is waiting.

The pilots are treated little better than long haul bus drivers by the airlines as well.

The excessive government regulations imposed on the pilots and passengers don't help either. TSA itself is unconstitutional and does NOTHING for security.
Even First Class has gotten worse. It's at least still tolerable, but you have to go through all the TSA nonsense and overbooking by the airlines nonsense.

It used to be passengers would often get a full meal in flight. Now, you're lucky to get a packet of stale peanuts. Now it's you stuck in the middle seat with the guy that has the bladder control problem in the window seat and the snotty little kid kicking your seat from behind while the women in front lays the seat back so far you lose your kneecaps.

No, airlines have ceased to be fun a long time ago. When I fly, I fly my little Cessna. I have no lines, I can carry my gun if I want, I don't have to take my shoes off, and I fly pretty much direct on my own schedule. Being lower, I have a far better view than the airlines do. I am currently building an airplane that will be fast enough to beat the airlines for any destination in the Western half of the States. There is no TSA, I don't necessarily have to use ATC, I just fly.
