We need a strong 2-party system in America. We should have even more than that - but we need at least 2.
I'm sure the GOP will win the mid-terms. But the party itself is going down the rabbit hole, rapidly. Trump is still very involved w/ party leadership and plays a significant role in determining the candidates we'll see for the House and Senate. "The Big Lie" has become the main qualifier for any prospective candidate, and even for incumbents to keep their positions.
And we're seeing quite a few reasonable Republicans decide it's no longer for them. These aren't "moderates" or "Rinos" - many are real conservatives, who don't want any part of conspiracies and lies, and just want to get back to good governance and conservative principles. They're being replaced by people on the fringes (trying to be polite here). These are not people who are interested in the country succeeding as it is currently structured.
And we're headed toward the equivalent of fight club in Congress, every day. Grandstanding and trying to get headlines instead of working for the people.
When Liz Cheney can't fist bump the President of the United States without talk radio and twitter erupting in fury, we're in trouble. The GOP needs to find itself again.

It is worse than that. Trump is just a clown doing the blocking for the real TD play. The wealthy are recreating America into a plutocracy. It will be run by the super-wealthy as they wish. It has taken them a long time, but the wealthy have lots of time. Their children will rule. The cabal includes huge names in American history. They started the John Birch society to use the news to promote the end of American democracy. They bought the press, newspapers, TV stations, movies studios, and magazines. Through their corporations, they are the media.
The playbook includes keeping the masses separate and fighting each other. Then all they need is to control one at a time. Dems hate rights. Repubs hate everyone. Blacks hate the establishment that has a foot on their neck. They do not know they have a common enemy that has already won.

I wouldn't be so sure about that for a number of reasons...
1. No Trump on the ticket means Trump voters aren't going to show up.
2. The 100,000-300,000 Conservatives who will die of COVID between now and November 2022; that will be enough to make the difference in several races next year, including FL's pivotal Governor and Senate races.
3. The GOP got shellacked during the recall in the CA seats it narrowly won last year with Trump on the ticket, so most of those 2020 seats the GOP won from Democrats, particularly in CA, are going to go back to the Democrats in the next election.
4. Redistricting may net the GOP a handful of seats, but that cuts both ways, with OR cementing the D's 5-1 Congressional majority (as an example) and PA and NY having to draw new districts to account for the loss of seats via the census. That will probably squeeze the GOP out of 1 seat in PA and 1 seat in NY.
5. Do not underestimate the youth vote and turnout, particularly after the GOP made them political pawns this year and last with COVID.
6. A lot can happen between now and November 2022, but a lot has to break the GOP's way in order to seize any momentum from Biden and the Democrats.
7. If SCOTUS overturns Roe, the GOP is going to be decimated next year by women voters.

THe D's are now the party driving tyranny.
THe R's are now the party defending the Constitution and freedom.
Only one is on the right side of history.
I choose my own words like the Americans of olden times........before this dystopia arrived.

To me this is one of those "it sounds good in theory" when you say we should have a strong two party system but it's not what you really want. I look at California where we had Arnold and Meg Whitman run for Governor. They weren't Trump Republicans. Yet they were called the same racist/deplorable and every other negative label you would someone who was more in line with Trump. Now part of that is the regular election partisanship we all engage in. Nonetheless they were viewed no differently. So I don't buy this idea that Democrats want more like them.
You'll just end up with what we have in many places in California. Everyone's a Democrat just some are labeled "moderate" and others progressive.

BLUEXITA Modest Proposal For Separating Blue States From Red
Dear Red-State Trump Voter,
Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.
It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.
This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.

GOP is a right wing party. They have been since Reagan.
Trump is not an anomaly.
Conservative principles are based in racism and bigotry...I don't get why everyone avoids this.
Conservatism is not redeemable.
"Conservatism stands athwart history, yelling STOP!" was what William F. Buckley, the Godfather of the Conservative movement, wrote less than 6 months after Brown v. Board of Education.
And then you had his protege, Lee Atwater, say this shit in 1981:
How can anyone conclude Conservatism isn't racist, bigoted fascism?"You start out in 1954 by saying, “N***er, n***er, n***er.” By 1968 you can’t say “n***er”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N***er, n***er.”
