I disagree on one thing.... Jesus was a philosopher. But Jesus wasn't a king but they did want to make him one.

Jesus was a moralist. He never explained, he just advocated. This is not philosophy.

The Philosopher-Emperor Marcus Aurelius is reputed to be one of the "five good" Emperors of Late Antiquity

Five Good Emperors, the ancient Roman imperial succession of Nerva (reigned 96–98 ce), Trajan (98–117), Hadrian (117–138), Antoninus Pius (138–161), and Marcus Aurelius (161–180), who presided over the most majestic days of the Roman Empire.

    We need them today.

Marcus Aurelius would generally be considered within the Stoic philosophical tradition.

Marcus Aurelius is misquoted as often as Thomas Jefferson on FaceBook.

For some reason the extremists have become more shrill and fixed in their positions. I think there used to be a little more respect for facts. Now, there are a lot of people fully willing to propagate lies they know are untrue and know have been utterly debunked. Strict literal Creationism and Kraken theories are two prime examples

The problem in any religion is that there are no facts.

I never trust Facebook quotes. Best to go straight to the source "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius.

There are plenty of facts. Just none that have or prove anything other than the physical Universe.

Why do the beliefs of others upset you? Sure, if some asshole is harassing me to join their cult or whatever, I'd try to be nice but firmly inform them I'm not interested.
