Default Week 3 in College Football - sports talk

I remade this thread to block out those who insist on talking politics or nonsense in a sports thread.

#1 Alabama will play #11 Florida, in Gainesville tomorrow. I predict that the Crimson Tide will win easily.

First of all, the QB for Bama is already in the top few mentioned for the Heiseman.
Second of all, the Bama defense is back in true Tide form.

Tomorrow will also see Penn State beat auburn.

OU will beat Nebraska like a redheaded stepchild.

    Miami will beat Michigan State.

Purdue might beat Notre Dame, because I think ND is way overrated.

Georgia will handle South Carolina with ease. (that defense is for real)

    Give me your pics!

Tulane and Ole Miss should be a shootout. Is OU overrated? Is Tulane that good?
If ND was asleep they need to wake up soon. If not Purdue shouldn't have a problem. Toledo is actually a better team than FSU.
Florida reminds me of LSU. High hopes but disappointment at the hands of Alabama. They don't have the horses or the coach.
Penn St. beating Wisc. was impressive. They're tested, Auburn not. But new coach, new attitude.

Look forward to tomorrow's games. (Damn, do I really have to play golf? Time's running out for it here in Alaska.)

The Tulane v. Ole Miss will tell us if Tulane is that good or OU is slipping. I'm looking forward to seeing it. My Dad was an Ole Miss alum. I'll cheer for them until they play Bama.

I'm a little partial to the Greenies. I hated them when I went to LSU, but now appreciate them. Really nice campus w/ a wonderful location in Uptown N. O., great school and as much as I hate New Orleans it's a great place to be a college student. Not an Ole Miss hater though.

Some ranked teams had (or are having) a rough day.

Unranked Tennessee was hanging with the Florida gators until the 3rd quarter. Still a close game.
Michigan State is tied with unranked Nebraska.
Unranked West Virginia is beating #4 Oklahoma 10-7.
Unranked Georgia Tech is beating #21 North Carolina 13-7.
    #7 Texas A&M lost to #16 Arkansas.
#9 Clemson lost to an unranked NC State.

Georgia beat Vandy 62-0. Seems to be quite the buzz about that. But Vandy was 1-2 going into this game, having lost to Stanford and East Tennessee State. East TN State is an FCS school.

Notre Dame beat Wisconsin 41-13. Notre Dame doesn't look good, but they do keep winning.

Was visiting my boy this weekend and went to the game while we were on campus. Observations about our team and our fans:

I have a couple of theories. One is that we've bought into the pre-season hype from ESPN and other sports news outlets but we're not as good as predicted. Second, we're spoiled to Baker, Kyler and Jalen...and Rattler isn't there ... yet.

But having watched two games on the tube and one in person the biggest disappointment for me has been the offensive line. We don't run block well and can't sustain a pocket so Rattler has to perform with Tom Brady type efficiency or get sacked.

Rattler has shown that if you give him a second more that he can make the throws. He had the poise to lead them down the field for the winning field goal. But if the O line doesn't get better we're not going to like watching many games this season.

Edit: The boos and subsequent chants weren’t as bad or as sustained as the media is making them out to be. They were real, but not ongoing. There’s a tally board in my son’s dorm with the names Caleb and Spencer on it. According to the tally marks I could have predicted the chants from the student section that we heard if Rattler hit some rough patches in the game even before we walked across the street from the dorm to the stadium.

No excuse for Auburn. WTF was that about? Georgia State outplayed them most of the game. I’m happy for T.J. Finley , Auburns backup QB though. He made the right decision transferring from LSU.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss and Arkansas look like the cream of the SEC.

Looks like a great Saturday to watch CF, sports fans.

Alabama - Ole Miss Will ole miss score enough points to win? Even if they don't, how many will they score?
Georgia - Arkansas Will reality hit Ark. ? Staying within 7 pts. of Ga. would be good. And a loss to them still keeps them in the SEC West.
ND vs. Cincinatti Gee, who's the favorite here?

Auburn - LSU Battle to see who stays in the top25 (yawn)

    Anybody see an upset special?

Ole Miss and Arkansas didn't look like the cream of the crop today.

Looks like GA and Bama will meet in the SEC Championship.

If the SEC Championship is a close game, we may see GA and Bama get in the playoffs.

I could see those two playing for the SEC championship then again for the NC.. Nobody else looks dominant like those two.

Georgia is having their dream season (so far).
