One gets the sense that neither the Revolution or the Australians bothered to talk to the French. If so this is another lesson to the Europeans that the Americans can not be counted on going forwards. In that regard it is important that the UK and the French have the only two militaries in Europe that Matter, even though the UK is massively shrunk.

The cost for cancellation is yet to be negotiated for example....The French are owed some money....maybe a lot of money.....and the Australians will have nothing to show for it.

I doubt that a diesel powered sub is even capable of reaching Taiwan, which is over 7000 kms from Sydney. The Aussies are being reminded what happened in WW2 when the Japs bombed Darwin.

They are not 'nuke subs' in the sense of being able to fire nuclear missiles, they are nuclear powered, huge difference.

The term nuclear sub refers to the propulsion system, not the type of armaments. Any sub could fire nuclear armaments, and many nuclear subs could not fire any type of missile.

They have no experience building them, they have no experience operating them, they have no Blue Water Navy at all, the old boats need to go plus China and their friends are coming on RIGHT NOW....they just wasted five years and billions with the last plan that they scrubbed....

trump's attempt to surrender them to China scared them. They do have a blue water navy, which includes several long range capable ships. They are a small nation (population wise), so have a small navy. That being said, it does exist.

This is an attempt to up their game, and I think it is a good idea. I doubt they have wasted billions of dollars.
