Default Fears That Trump Might Launch a Strike Prompted General to Reassure China

WASHINGTON — The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff twice called his Chinese counterpart in the final months of the Trump administration to reassure him that Donald J. Trump had no plans to attack China in an effort to remain in power and that the United States was not collapsing, according to “Peril,” a new book by the Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa.

Twice in the final months of the Trump administration, the country’s top military officer was so fearful that the president’s actions might spark a war with China that he moved urgently to avert armed conflict.

In a pair of secret phone calls, Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, assured his Chinese counterpart, Gen. Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army, that the United States would not strike, according to a new book by Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward and national political reporter Robert Costa.

If Woodward got his information from Milley, Milley must resign.
If not, Woodward is not credible.
    Either or.

Oh! This must have been a Democrat e-mail blast for the day because guno started a thread exactly like this!

This one is particularly stupid, because it reveals that Milley should face a court martial and be dishonorably discharged.

Woodward has a decades old reputation for being credible, reason why politicians talk to him, thinking he will report the truth

And Milley’s actions are questionable, it is not that heads of other countries military don’t communicate with each other, especially in key moments, common practice, and Ghina had to be on edge watching the events of January 6th on TV, but by doing such, Milley made himself political, a trait even he said was undesirable in a top military official. In time, I’d say he’ll voluntarily step down for this reason

I hear ya. It’s why I read McSlobber’s nonsense but guano is too far gone . Bad enough I waste my time here but reading guno’s drivel factors the waste of time by two or three.
