As it stands now, Newsome is beating the recall attempt by 64% to 36% --an utter blowout landslide, which will probably increase in the victory margin as remaining votes from urban areas and mail in ballots are counted.

This morning Governor Newsome said Californians totally crushed cynicism, bigotry, and Trumpism.

According to NBC only 70 percent of the vote has been counted and given that urban and mail in votes generally take longer to count, I would not be surprised if rejection of the recall comes close to 70%

Moral of the story: The Republican Party completely wasted people's time, taxpayer resources, and the staff and administrative time of counties and municipalities in an unwarranted and pointless off-year election.

It's not the most welfare-dependent state in the country....that distinction goes to Mississippi. CA isn't even in the top 25 for welfare dependency...it only gets back about 70 cents for every $1 it contributes in taxes.
