It involves an accusation (LIE) (and the subject of this thread) from Jim Risch, from Idaho, who is the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee…during his opening question to Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. Here is an excerpt. I am told I should not post the entire article due to forum copyright rules.

After yet another back-and-forth on the matter, Blinken finally told the senator: “I really don’t know what you are referring to.”

There’s good reason for that: It didn’t happen.

The episode is worth unpacking because it shows, in miniature, how misinformation infects the Republican Party, rapidly spreads through partisan media and contaminates elected GOP leaders — who amplify and defend the falsehood, even when it’s shown to be wrong. This is how lies are born.

(In this case, it wasn’t even a useful lie. By making it his lead-off attack, Risch distracted attention from the Biden administration’s botched pullout from Afghanistan, a serious matter. Instead, Risch used the forum to portray Biden as senile, based on rubbish.)

The story begins with the White House’s Monday press schedule, which announced that Biden would receive a wildfire briefing in Boise. The press coverage was listed as “out-of-town pool spray at the top.” In English, this means that a group of the traveling White House press corps is admitted to the event at the beginning and then brought out after journalists get some video and audio. It’s a routine practice presidents have used for decades. And that’s exactly what happened Monday. According to the pool report, the group was escorted in at 12:08 p.m. for the start of the briefing and “escorted out at roughly 12:35” — a relatively long spray.

That would have been the end of the matter, except that somebody in the research department at the RNC, watching the White House’s livestream, decided that something nefarious had happened. “White House feed cuts out as Biden starts to ask a question,” the RNC tweeted.

Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post, crediting the RNC for the scoop, published an article under the headline, “White House livestream cuts Biden mid-sentence as he goes off script.”

“An official White House livestream of President Biden’s remarks was abruptly cut off mid-sentence on Monday,” it began, linking Monday’s “incident” to White House officials’ “fear he’ll veer wildly off-message.”

All that was left was for Risch to trumpet the fabrication — and then to demand to know why Blinken was “unaware this is actually happening.”

Had Risch been duped, or was he deliberately parroting disinformation? I explained to Risch’s aides what had actually happened and asked whether there would be a clarification. There would not be. “Who cut off the president? Please advise,” repeated Risch spokeswoman Suzanne Wrasse.

So Risch knows the facts but perpetuates the fiction. If only somebody could “press the button” and cut off the GOP lie machine before it destroys us all.

Why does the president of the United States have to be censored by his own staff?

    Who is the real president?

The holder of the nuclear codes has to be censored.

    What could go wrong?

    Ok, thanks (I guess).
    Two things come to mind.
    1. The article still doesn’t really explain very well why Biden was cut off mid sentence. After all he’s supposedly the president. Wouldn’t we want to hear what he has to say?
    2. The OP doesn’t really give a good example of Joe’s senility. There have been many more . Just that he was cut ofF.

Regardless, I have no doubt he is being controlled by handlers as to what, when and how much to say.
Best case scenario is that he actually recognizes he is gaffe prone , goes off script or sounds completely garbled coming across confused. Not a good best case.
Worst case is that , yes, he is past early dementia and it’s getting worse.

In any case the public sees and recognizes what’s happening. Most voters will vote for either Blue Team or Red Team regardless. It’s the few who are truly independent that dims should be concerned about and Joe’s very much under water with that group.
Now go on your usual rant that Joe’s far better than Trump if that makes you feel better.

    I prefer this one:

"Can I ask you a question?" Biden asked.

    "Of course," Geissler responded.

"One of the things that I've been working on with some others is —" Biden said before being cut off mid-sentence.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

    This says it all.

The article explains that the session was over. Joe Biden may have been asking a question, but the media feed was cut off, as it always is.

Joe Biden does not seem senile to me. He is not young...and is showing some of the signs of aging, but he seems a lot more alert, aware, and intelligent than the guy who preceded him in that office...and a lot more alert, aware, and intelligent than the people who supported that disaster.

Regardless, I have no doubt he is being controlled by handlers as to what, when and how much to say.
Okay...but I think you are full of shit on that point.

Worst case is that , yes, he is past early dementia and it’s getting worse.
Best case is that Trump supporters have fallen off the edge...and damning Joe Biden is their main source of comfort. They are cute that way.

In any case the public sees and recognizes what’s happening.
We agree there, A. The public sees and recognizes the Republican Party as the party of traitors...and thinks they suck like a black hole.

I hope that is what you meant.

Most voters will vote for either Blue Team or Red Team regardless. It’s the few who are truly independent that dims should be concerned about and Joe’s very much under water with that group.
I am a registered Independent (capital "I" Independent.) I have several friends who also are. Most of us fear the Republican Party much more than any foreign enemy. We hold that party in contempt for what it has become. Most of us will vote for the Democrat in any nationwide race with a Republican.

Now go on your usual rant that Joe’s far better than Trump if that makes you feel better.
I feel much better that Trump is out of the White House...and that Joe Biden is president rather than that dimwitted, ignorant, clueless, classless, disgusting boor.

    Thanks for asking.

If Joe is "fine", why not just let him speak on his own? He struggles with the teleprompter...he struggles with notes...They have to follow him when he walks somewhere...He wanders if he's not sitting down...When was the last time he was on his own?

I’m a registered libertarian. The last republican Presidential candidate I voted for was Dole. I recently answered about 20 questions given by the NYT that showed what “party” I fit into. Libertarian was not an option. Anyway the result was I was more like an old time republican which made sense to me. My favorite presidents were Ford and Reagan.
Those republicans are extinct now as are Democrats like Mondale and Tip O’Niell.
I reregistered in 1999 because my choice was between Bush and McCain, both made me want to puke, and never looked back.
I hear you about being fearful of republicans on a national level but dems have become extreme also and I fear them more. Both major parties have become authoritarian and want to limit freedom and liberty.
We recently had a mayoral election in Anchorage where the democrat candidate made no secret of turning us into a homeless haven like Seattle, Portland and San Francisco.
He said crazy things like Anchorage was the largest Athabascan village in Alaska and it should be returned to them. Imagine a New York mayoral candidate saying Manhattan should be returned to the Lenape.
Now that’s scary and it was very concerning to me the republican didn’t win by a landslide.

Has Fox News retracted this story yet? If not, why not?
