Default Ssssshhhhh....can you hear the planet?

Just a reminder: the debate is over. And it's not even about AGW or any of the buzzwords that have come to characterize the climate debate.

Massive hurricanes, wildfires, disappearing coastline, lost habitat, a MASS EXTINCTION EVENT - the planet is screaming at us right now. And that isn't melodramatic or emotional. The planet is literally screaming at us.

The way we live, develop and consume energy simply isn't sustainable. We need to address this like it's the biggest problem we have. Because it is. Because without the planet, all of the other problems and issues don't matter a bit.

I can’t wait for the day when all Americans at least believe in science and not oil industry talking points

    It’s coming

Hopefully for our children that day will come soon enough

    Oh, silly!

    That makes so much SENSE.

Don't you realize there are Republicans present?

You're going to have to frame this in such a way that doing anything to help the planet we depend on is really 'sticking it to the libs.'

    Then you might get somewhere.

The church of Fox Entertainment channel instructs them not to listen to all the scientists in the world.

It's all just a big scam, everything is just a way to get into your wallet. Government, science, school, FBI,
Hollywood, Silicon Valley, all of it. The propaganda of morbid cynicism works really well on old grumpy people.

Closing California would a major step in the right direction! They have abused their water table for decades

I hear it. I think it is saying "Fall is coming." It was 58 when I woke up this morning at 7 o'clock. Felt like Fall. Made me want to go hang a tree stand but alas, I had to go to work.

obviously addressing AGW would require a coordinated worldwide effort to reduce carbon emissions immediately

that has little chance of happening so it's likely too late

but without that effort we're left with only doomsday scenarios

what do you suggest wacko, total capitulation or total cooperation with other other nations?

A moon shot effort to get off fossil fuels and make alternatives cleaner, cheaper and much more efficient. Give the EPA more political backbone. Stricter guidelines for building, development, waste & all corporate practices that result in pollution or lost habitat. Higher standards for clean earth, water and air.

We do very little long-term planning when it comes to development and energy use. That has to change.

In short, it needs to be our top priority. Not just something that gets mentioned on campaign trails and forgotten.

And I know we're just one country. We need China, India & the rest onboard. But we have to lead.

And if anyone thinks those measures are expensive...how much do you think Ida and the wildfires are costing right now?

He only cares about his next house flip and the fact that smelly, poor, urine soaked jeans people from the Tenderloin are building a shanty village near his Nob Hill mansion.

Proof you're a loon. You think you can "hear" the planet.

Inconvenient FACTS for the loons who believe man can change the climate:

Below is the composition of air in percent by volume, at sea level at 15 C and 101325 Pa.

    Nitrogen -- N2 -- 78.084%
    Oxygen -- O2 -- 20.9476%
    Argon -- Ar -- 0.934%
    Carbon Dioxide -- CO2 -- 0.0314%
    Neon -- Ne -- 0.001818%
    Methane -- CH4 -- 0.0002%
    Helium -- He -- 0.000524%
    Krypton -- Kr -- 0.000114%
    Hydrogen -- H2 -- 0.00005%
    Xenon -- Xe -- 0.0000087%
    Ozone -- O3 -- 0.000007%
    Nitrogen Dioxide -- NO2 -- 0.000002%
    Iodine -- I2 -- 0.000001%
Carbon Monoxide -- CO -- trace
    Ammonia -- NH3 -- trace

29% of Earth is land mass. Of that 29% humans occupy less than 2 to 3% of that area. Of the remaining land mass, about 40% is pure wilderness. 14% is true desert and 15% has desert like characteristics. 9% is Antarctica. Most of the remaining 22% are agricultural areas.

The notion that man is causing the planet to heat up based on CO2 that amounts to 0.0314% of the gas in oxygen and less than 3% of the land can only be believed by morons.

How Many Ice Ages Have Been Recorded?

The Huronian Ice Age took place between 2.4 and 2.1 billion years ago

The Cryogenian Ice Age is recorded to have taken place between 720 and 635 million years ago

The Andean-Saharan Ice Age, also known as the Andean-Saharan Glaciation, took place between 450 and 420 million years ago

The Karoo Ice Age took place sometime between 360 and 260 million years ago

The Quaternary Ice Age, also known as the Quaternary Glaciation, is the ice age that is currently being experienced by earth. This period of glaciation began approximately 2.58 million years ago
