My experience is that for every hour of lecture I spent in the classroom, I spent four or five hours outside of the classroom preparing lectures, researching, grading tests, reading papers, doing administrative work, having meetings..

Jill Biden is a woman of substance whom we can all respect,
but I still don't think that the president's spouse should be seen as having a "position" in the state.

She/he should be a person involved in the president's personal life that none of us particularly care about.

The celebrity president is a bad idea. He/she should simply be a guy/broad whose job it is to preside over the cabinet,
and that job should pay a hell of a lot more than four hundred grand a year
so we can get somebody competent to run for it.

The MLB rookie minimum is $570,500 a year for Christ's sake.
You couldn't get a talented kid from San Juan to run for president if he could pitch or hit.

Congrats to America for making this happen. For a moment I thought I was seeing the faces of angels for certain reasons:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jill Biden is going back to her whiteboard.

After months of teaching writing and English to community college students in boxes on a computer screen, the first lady resumes teaching in person Tuesday from a classroom at Northern Virginia Community College, where she has worked since 2009.

She is the first first lady to leave the White House and log hours at a full-time job.

“There are some things you just can’t replace, and I can’t wait to get back in the classroom,” she recently told Good Housekeeping magazine.

The first lady has been anxious to see her students in person after more than a year of virtual teaching brought on by a pandemic that continues to challenge the Biden administration.

A working first lady is a “big deal,” said Tammy Vigil, a Boston University communications professor who wrote a book about first ladies Michelle Obama and Melania Trump."

Awesome. What a joy it is to have an intelligent, accomplished First Lady who not only values education, but provides it.

How do we know that Mrs. Biden isn't "involved in the president's personal life"? I think it's wonderful that she is setting an example for young women that you can have a family and home *and* a rewarding career. That isn't posing naked, that is. lol

    From the article:

Her employer, the commonwealth of Virginia, requires everyone to wear face coverings indoors on Northern Virginia Community College campuses, regardless of vaccination status. The first lady is fully vaccinated.”
And that's typical for college professors. Unlike secondary school teachers, they do not work Monday-Friday. Which Stoned would have known if he'd bothered to go to college.

At least she's actually a teacher though, Toxic, and doesn't have to pretend to a career she doesn't own. Can you imagine anyone being so low as to do that?

She loves teaching. She says teaching is “who she is”, she doesn’t “want” out of the house, she just loves her job and didn’t feel she had to give it up because she’s the 1st Lady. It’s wonderful to have such an inspiration in the WH.

So how many hours is she teaching? 15 week, 7 week, or 5 week classes? It's possible I guess...But a community college is not a university. I'm sure you know that...
Did she begin August 23 or does she start today?

Exactly. Mr. Owl taught Java and some other computer language I've forgotten at the community college near us, years ago. He only spent ~5 hours/week in the classroom, and about 3x that with everything else involved in teaching. That was on top of a FT job as a software engineer for CIGNA.
