    Default Newsom recall

A recall of Alaska Gov. Dunleavy was attempted but not enough signatures were collected by democrats to initiate one.
What did republicans in CA do right and what did dims in AK do wrong?

It's more like what Newsom did wrong, which is a lot more than the guy in Alaska.

We tried to recall our installed State-Capitol-Building-Occupant (King Evers) a while back, but our completely grassroots effort (it had ZERO ZILCH ZERO help from the Republican Party) came slightly short. With ANY sort of formal organization and push I'm sure it would've went through... A lot of people here (myself included) can't stand Evers. Thankfully he isn't as bad as some of the other tyrants in other States (Whitmer, Inslee, Brown, etc...)

People in California attempt to recall every Governor. Most can't get near enough signatures so we don't hear much about it. Gray Davis and Gavin did things that hit a true nerve with people and that's why they reached the ballot.

the way you folks do it should prove interesting......same election......if a majority votes to impeach he is gone, then whoever gets the most votes takes the prize.......you have like what, 34 candidates?......theoretically someone with 10% of the vote could be governor, right?......or is there some sort of threshold limit........

There is no minimum as far as I'm aware. Yep, there are a large number of candidates. It's interesting from a strategy perspective that almost no Democrats are running. They tried that previously (when Arnold won). The message they sent out was (Vote) No on Recall, Yes on Bustamante. This time it's Gavin or bust.

is it possible that he could be recalled, yet re-elected on the same day?.......

He cannot. He's not allowed to be on the ballot as a candidate and even if he got the most votes via write-in it would not count.

No. Voters vote on two questions:

    1. Should Newsome be recalled. If this gets 50%+1 of the vote Newsome is gone.
    Then they vote on this:

    2. Who should replace him. There are like 45 people in the running for that, thus the vote for his replacement is heavily split between these candidates. Newsome isn't one of those you can vote for because of question 1.
