The overwhelming majority of those 60,000 FL COVID deaths are elderly people...and elderly people was the key demographic that DeSantis hinged his election bet on in 2018, winning the 65+ age demo 57% to 42%.

Between now and November 2022, FL will probably see another 10,000-30,000 deaths from COVID, and they are universally going to be unvaccinated right-wing "very fine people" (aka your base).

So DeSantis is already staring down the barrel of a 10,000-30,000 vote deficit that he will need to make up...and I simply don't see from where he can make those gains up in a mid-term election. Because vaccinated Republicans aren't going to vote for him. They're going to stay home, just like what we saw in CA this week.
