Default Covid-19 vaccines no longer prevent transmission, CDC director says

On the upside, I'm seeing more people masking up in the supermarket, some stores are requiring masks now too!

Covid-19 vaccines no longer prevent transmission, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said Thursday.

“Our vaccines are working exceptionally well,” Walensky told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “They continue to work well for Delta, with regard to severe illness and death – they prevent it. But what they can't do anymore is prevent transmission.”

That is why the CDC is recommending even vaccinated people wear masks indoors again, Walensky said.

“If you're going home to somebody who has not been vaccinated, to somebody who can't get vaccinated, somebody who might be immunosuppressed or a little bit frail, somebody who has comorbidities that put them at high risk, I would suggest you wear a mask in public indoor settings.”

    From CNN's Lauren Mascarenhas

We can take this to task if we remember the mask!

Cherry-picked science says whatever the political agenda of the cherry-picker wants it to say.

The overwhelming body of science, and the official science of our government says wear masks now because, while the vaccines absolutely help people survive COVID, they do not prevent transmission. This realization comes from top level people in our government who are extremely well-qualified to be studying these issues and giving us advice. It is their job to study these things and keep us informed and help us navigate through these challenging times.

Dr Anthony Stephen Fauci is a Physician and Scientist, the Director of the official United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President of the United States. Our government hired him a long time ago in order to have the most highly qualified team to deal with medical issues and nationally threatening diseases. He has served well. He is obviously well educated and well trained in his field:

"As a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fauci has served the American public health sector in various capacities for more than 50 years, and has acted as an advisor to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan.[1] He became director of the NIAID in 1984 and has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiency diseases, both as a research scientist and as the head of the NIAID.[2] From 1983 to 2002, Fauci was one of the world's most frequently-cited scientists across all scientific journals.[2] In 2008, President George W. Bush awarded Fauci the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States, for his work on the AIDS relief program PEPFAR.[3]" wiki

Most people in this country do not know better than Dr Fauci, so it is wise to listen to him. Wise Americans listen when their government is trying to protect them.

Compassionate Americans want to protect their neighbors and fellow citizens. A threat to one is a threat to all. We Americans need to stand together and fight this pandemic. This is not political. This is patriotic.

Here's an important message board tip: If you make a ridiculous statement like you just did, back it up with credible evidence. Otherwise you are correctly labeled as a troll, just another low-info, low-IQ idiot who's only here to get ppl to respond to them. Like this response.

You don't know jack shit. But here's an idea. Next time you go get another of those unsightly moles burned off your face, tell your doctor you don't want him to wear a mask, or gloves either.

Because you know that I am right, and you are wrong about this. I am a retired, licensed health care professional, a nurse. And how many semesters of biology, chemistry, microbiology, A&P have you had, again? Oh, that's right. You got your degree from Trump U.
