The Taliban have targeted students at the American University of Afghanistan in the past. In 2016, the group carried out a terrorist attack at the school that killed 15 people, including seven students.

As Afghan students, they are almost undoubtedly visiting family in Afghanistan.

I do not recall any promises to rescue each and every Afghan national unless they worked for our embassy or our military.

State Department advised US citizens to leave the country ASAP back in April.

Five months is plenty of time to pack your bags and drive to the airport.

Four of the five families are in a safe location and waiting to be transported out.
