    Fortunately, in our western liberal tradition, we do not stop at comparing ourselves to what life is like in Nigeria, Myanmar, or Soviet Russia.

    That is a very low bar to clear.

    It is perfectly reasonable to be patriotic but to also hold our nation to the highest standards of justice and morality possible.

    I wouldn't say insulting our flag and National Anthem on the world stage is either patriotic or moral.
    Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

    but you are full of shit and immoral, bitch. a true patriot is one who believes my country, right or wrong. if right, to keep it right. if wrong, to make it right. to ignore slavery, racism, immoral wars and invasions, torture, is not being patriotic, it is being a slug, a robot, a zombie, a punk ass bitch. i don't agree with burning the flag, but kneeling during the anthem is not disrespectful, it is a form of protest. voting for trump proves you are not a real patriot.

    There’s actual real life, as opposed to historical slavery, being abetted by the Biden administration as a result of his dereliction of duty at our southern border.

    And it is impeachment worthy. As for the OP, the true Patriot of Nigerian descent and his comments are a breath of fresh air.

    he is following the law, dickhead. migrants who claim asylum by law must remain in US until their trial comes up. idiot bitch.

    (1)In general
    Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters), irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.

    Asylum status
    (1)In general
    In the case of an alien granted asylum under subsection (b), the Attorney General—
    (A)shall not remove or return the alien to the alien’s country of nationality or, in the case of a person having no nationality, the country of the alien’s last habitual residence;
    (B)shall authorize the alien to engage in employment in the United States and provide the alien with appropriate endorsement of that authorization; and
    (C)may allow the alien to travel abroad with the prior consent of the Attorney General.
    (2)Termination of asylum
    Asylum granted under subsection (b) does not convey a right to remain permanently in the United States, and may be terminated if the Attorney General determines that—
    (A)the alien no longer meets the conditions described in subsection (b)(1) owing to a fundamental change in circumstances;
    (B)the alien meets a condition described in subsection (b)(2);
    (C)the alien may be removed, pursuant to a bilateral or multilateral agreement, to a country (other than the country of the alien’s nationality or, in the case of an alien having no nationality, the country of the alien’s last habitual residence) in which the alien’s life or freedom would not be threatened on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion, and where the alien is eligible to receive asylum or equivalent temporary protection;
    (D)the alien has voluntarily availed himself or herself of the protection of the alien’s country of nationality or, in the case of an alien having no nationality, the alien’s country of last habitual residence, by returning to such country with permanent resident status or the reasonable possibility of obtaining such status with the same rights and obligations pertaining to other permanent residents of that country; or
    (E)the alien has acquired a new nationality and enjoys the protection of the country of his or her new nationality.

    A non-citizen who hasn't yet entered the U.S. does not have the same rights, and is subject to expedited removal. In other words, the person can simply be refused entry unless he or she has a legitimate fear of persecution if forced to return to his or her home country. In the latter case, the immigration officials must allow the person's asylum claim to be heard.

    What was wrong with remaining in Mexico until each individual appeal could be evaluated, moron?

    Now the border is being blitzed. Exact same principle as in football. Rush so many defenders the offense can’t block them all. Border security can’t possibly process them all—they can’t even hold them all, so they are handed a piece of paper with a court date[lol] and turned loose.

    Of course, the communities close to the border are already overwhelmed [buh-bye south TX Hispanic vote] so Biden’s ‘government’ is bussing them and even flying them into the interior. Right along with all their Covid cooties. I wonder how many of them are wards of DeSantis now? Is it any wonder CA numbers are jumping up.

    And this is going on *in a pandemic*. It’s nothing short of criminal.

    Oh, blow it out your old wazoo. You weren’t concerned about the pandemic until you could use it to bitch about the border.

    I think the problem is exaggerated by the usual suspects.

    “The reality is that much of our current frenzy over immigration, and the so-called crisis at the southern border, has been driven through a series of cynical right-wing talking points, promulgated by Republican politicians and amplified by a conservative media echo chamber

    Also, in a recent Washington Post analysis, three academics from the University of California at San Diego looked at the data to see if there was evidence of a “surge” at the border. Here's what they found:
    We analyzed monthly CBP data from 2012 to now and found no crisis or surge that can be attributed to Biden administration policies. Rather, the current increase in apprehensions fits a predictable pattern of seasonal changes in undocumented immigration combined with a backlog of demand because of 2020’s coronavirus border closure.

    Nope it's just that when you are representing the country, try to appreciate the life it has given you, and the backing it gave you, you idiotic piece of garbage!
