KANDAHAR — The Taliban is ramping up pressure on some of Afghanistan’s largest cities, striking busy transit hubs and pushing front lines deep into urban areas for the first time since the militants were overthrown nearly two decades ago.
Taliban fighters launched rockets Saturday at airports in Kandahar and Herat, two of the country’s largest cities and busiest economic centers. The attacks disrupted commercial travel, though flights in and out of Herat subsequently resumed.

power fills a vacuum. US can't be a permanent repelling force to stand up a govt that cannot ever defend itself.
Esp with no strategic objective. Were it Russia or China invading, it would be otherwise, perhaps.
But I see no good argument to be made for being their permanent free army considering all the issues we have at home
with butter issues, jobs, deficit spending, healthcare etc.
I guess so. Someone had hope the government created by the US could at some point stand up to the Taliban. Obviously they were wrong.
I wonder how wrong I would be to anticipate a Taliban atrocity in the works? For women, enemy fighters. Scores will be settled. Ugly revenge will happen.
