According to a report from the Miami Herald, Florida hospitals are being overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients once again in frightening numbers as the Delta variant spreads rapidly among the unvaccinated in the state.
As the Herald report notes, the new flood of victims flooding in are even sicker than before -- and also younger.

Ron DeSantis's actions should be criminal. He is the leader of the Trump death cult in Florida. At this point, nothing that is said about the vaccines and their efficacy can change the reality. Florida is experiencing a Covid catastrophe, and it is the result of people not being vaccinated. Most of those people are under 40, less educated, and Trump supporters. That is the reality. They are willing to jeopardize their own families to prove that they won't be 'owned' by the libs. There is nothing we can do for them any longer. That being said, if we run out of room in ICUs, the vaccinated should always be prioritized over the unvaccinated. In fact, the unvaccinated should be at the bottom of the priority list. I could not agree more with the notion that the vaccinated should always be prioritized over the un-vaccinated in any medical questions where high rates of usage causes scarcity. If there is an un-vaccinated person in an ICU filled to capacity...and a vaccinated person in need comes in...out should go the un-vaccinated person to deal with his/her problems in a regular room.
Fuck 'em. If they are too stupid to get the vaccination by now...fuck 'em. My wife and I had to man the computer for hours each day to get an appointment for a vaccination. Now you can pretty much just walk into a pharmacy and get a shot and follow-up appointment.
Swear allegiance to that fat fuck in Florida (NJ for the summer) if you want...but prepare to die for your devotion.

People with children under 12 are usually working parents who find it difficult to follow the CDC guidelines and work. Since there are such a large uptick in children under 12 being admitted, and they have not been in school, it is likely they are picking it up from their unvaccinated parents.
Children under 12 are not allowed to get the vaccine because the CDC has not approved vaccines for use in that age group.
Hopefully that approval will come soon.
