Coronavirus: Most infected in outbreak after large public events were fully vaccinated, CDC says

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday released new data which showed that a majority of people infected with COVID-19 in a recent outbreak in Massachusetts were fully vaccinated.

The data, taken from COVID-19 cases reported in July in an unidentified town in Barnstable County, was released after an internal CDC document was leaked which showed that the delta variant of the virus can be spread from fully vaccinated people at the same rate as from unvaccinated people.

In July, officials identified 469 cases of COVID-19 associated with summer events and large public gatherings in Barnstable County. Nearly three-quarters of those infections (346) were detected in people who were fully vaccinated, according to the data.

About 79% of the vaccinated patients who had breakthrough infections experienced some symptoms, including four people who were hospitalized. One unvaccinated person was also hospitalized. No deaths were associated with the outbreak.

Seems it is only hard for you. The vaccine "works" by immunizing the vast majority of those who receive it from the most serious effects of the disease - hospitalization and death. That finding is expressly stated in the link you posted. With respect to the original strain of the virus it also worked in immunizing the vast majority of those who received it from any infection whatever.

Who is getting sick now? It is younger people 50 and younger. In the beginning, it was old people who were sick and dying. So now they are 80 percent vaccinated and are not getting Covid. The change that saved them was the vaccinations.

A vaccine isn't a cure unless you vaccinate almost everyone before it mutates, viruses do that.

The flu mutates every year, that's why each year people get the flu vaccine, it mutates every year, the vaccine people take for the flu is slightly different than the previous year.

From 1958 to 1977, the World Health Organization conducted a global vaccination campaign that eradicated smallpox, making it the only human disease to be eradicated.
