You are missing the point of 'National Champions'.
Do the Chinese have 'regs' on their SOE (National Champions)?

You, and your 'Pure Capitalists', call everything 'Communism' when the Government steps in to Promote America.
When I mention 'Central Planning', you go ballistic. You think the 'Market' will dictate the Future.
You fail to see China using Central Planning to Promote China and their Autocratic Government as 'The Future'.
In my view, the U.S. can use Central Planning as a Way to Promote America and Western Democracy.
You seem to be stuck in a Religious Devotion to Pure Capitalism as The Answer.

Rare Earth Metals should be an easy Test for you. Opt for the 'Market' to dictate Events, or use Central Planning and Government Subsidy (National Champion) to ensure Western Democracy and America prevails.

(naturally, I expect you and Darth to begin stuttering: 'but, but, but that's communism')

You love sticking labels on things, Jack. Did the US put the Manhattan Project out to private tender? I see this as little different unless you just want to lick Chicom arse from now on.

I think we are both on the same side of this issue. You seem pragmatic and practical. I believe Dukkha and Darth are both 'Pure Capitalists'. They have more of a Religious Devotion to what they perceive as Free Markets, Open Markets.

Dukkha is from Florida, but is probably unaware of what subsidies the Sugar Industry gets from Government.
