Israeli gunfire takes lives of two more Palestinian teens



Israeli occupation forces fatally shot a 17-year-old Palestinian boy in the back on Friday.

Israeli troops invaded the occupied West Bank village of Nabi Saleh that afternoon and were confronted by Palestinians defending their land from Israeli colonization.

The Israeli army used tear gas, stun grenades and live ammunition to attack Palestinian youths who were responding to the military invasion with stones, according to Defense for Children International Palestine.

Muhammad Munir Tamimi was standing a maximum of 10 feet away when an Israeli soldier sitting in a military vehicle shot the teenager in the back with live ammunition, leaving a large exit wound in his abdomen and exposing his intestines.

Israeli soldiers then watched and rendered no assistance as Tamimi attempted to move into a nearby house, but he collapsed on the stairs, according to DCIP.
Palestinians responding to the attack on the boy threw stones at the military vehicle until it left the area and they were able to reach Tamimi.

A military checkpoint blocked the way to Ramallah, so the injured youth had to be taken to a hospital in nearby Salfit by private vehicle.

Tamimi died from his wounds later that night.

As of Friday, Tamimi was the 10th Palestinian child killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank this year.

Israel has killed more than 60 children in Gaza during the same period.

Meanwhile, another Palestinian teen died on Monday from wounds he sustained on 14 May when he was shot by Israeli occupation forces in the village of Sinjil.

An army spokesperson quoted in The Times of Israel claimed that Israeli troops were using American-made “Ruger bullets” against Palestinians.

‘Mossad cell’ arrested over plans to provoke violence during ongoing protests in Iran, Tehran claims

Members of an armed cell who allegedly worked with Israel’s Mossad spy agency and planned to provoke violence during protests in Iran have been detained, Tehran’s Intelligence Ministry has told local media.
The group, which allegedly had access to a heavy shipment of weapons and ammunition, was recently apprehended after entering Iran through its western border, an official from the ministry told the Fars news agency.

The official didn’t elaborate on the size of the unit or the nationality of those arrested, but they insisted that the suspects were acting in cooperation with Mossad, the Israeli spy agency.

The weapons seized from the alleged agents included pistols, grenades, rifles, shotguns, and ammo. The arms were being brought into Iran to be used during “urban riots and assassinations,” according to the ministry official.

Israeli authorities have inspected the offices of the surveillance outfit NSO Group in response to the Pegasus project investigation into abuses of the company’s spyware by several government clients.

Officials from the defence ministry visited the company’s offices near Tel Aviv on Wednesday, at the same time as the defence minister, Benny Gantz, arrived for a pre-arranged visit to Paris in which the Pegasus revelations were discussed with his French counterpart.

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, is one of the highest profile figures whose phone numbers appeared on a leaked database of 50,000 numbers that are believed to have been selected as candidates for possible surveillance by clients of NSO.

He spoke to the Israeli prime minister, Naftali Bennett, last week to stress the importance of “properly investigating” the project’s findings.

Early media reports described the moves on NSO’s offices as a raid, but the company said in a statement that the authorities had “visited” rather than raided its premises. NSO said it had been informed in advance that defence ministry officials responsible for overseeing commercial exports of sensitive cyber-exports would be doing an inspection. “The company is working in full transparency with the Israeli authorities,” it added.
