Default FLA hospitals have more patients than ever as Doctors blast DeSantis

Some Florida Hospitals Have More Covid Patients Than Ever Before

MIAMI — A month ago, the number of Covid-19 patients admitted at two University of Florida hospitals in Jacksonville was down to 14. Now more than 140 people are hospitalized with the virus, a tenfold increase over five weeks — and the highest number of Covid patients this system has seen since the start of the pandemic.

Higher than last summer, when the coronavirus slammed Florida. Higher than over the winter, when the virus surged to devastating levels across the nation.

Debra Wells, 65, was among those admitted to one of the Jacksonville hospitals earlier this month when what she thought was a cold grew worse and worse until she couldn’t breathe. “I said, ‘Lord, I feel like I’m dying,’” she recalled.

Like most of the patients that hospital officials say they are admitting in Jacksonville and other fast-filling medical facilities in pockets around the country, Ms. Wells was unvaccinated. She had worried, she said, that the shots were not safe.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has drawn national attention for bucking federal health-care officials over the handling of the novel coronavirus, but a group of Florida physicians said Thursday the governor’s push to reopen the state and block precautions are a main reason for a sharp increase in the number of residents suffering from COVID-19.

Bernard Ashby, a Miami cardiologist and leader of the Florida chapter of the Committee to Protect Health Care, said DeSantis should spend more time talking to people about the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and less time attacking federal infectious-disease expert Anthony Fauci in hopes of scoring political points.

“While hospitals in our state were filling up, DeSantis was shouting about ‘Freedom over Faucism,’” said Ashby who leads the group of 405 Florida physicians. “If DeSantis were as concerned about stopping COVID-19 spread as he was about coming up with these clever jabs about Dr. Fauci, we might not be in this position.”

Ashby said DeSantis has bragged about Florida’s approach to handling the pandemic, but he accused the governor of being reactive and not having a plan to protect residents.

    Lies.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

    Worth remembering.

Vaccination rates up in states with surging Covid cases

Amid rising cases of Covid-19 across the country, states with the biggest increases are also reporting an uptick in vaccinations.

"In the past week, the five states with the highest case rates — Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri and Nevada — had a higher rate of people getting newly vaccinated compared to the national average," Jeff Zients, the White House Covid-19 response coordinator, said during a White House briefing Thursday. "People in these states are feeling the impact of being unvaccinated and responding with action."

This is why Florida suddenly started catching up. The number of partially vaccinated people in the state has shot up. Florida still ranks only 25th in fully vaccinated people. That's up a little, but still horrible considering the number of seniors, almost all of whom are vaccinated.

Desantis thinks like Trump. If you get an advantage from something you do it. If people die, that is no problem. The rightys, who are the mindless voters of Trump and Desantis are too stupid to know they are risking their lives and their families. Trump and Desantis do not care

What's the left's plan for attaining herd immunity? Natural recovery rate is still 98.9%. Vax offers 94% protection.
People will still get flu cases, keep your immune system strong and recover with or without the jab.
