Anecdotal for sure. I am only 1/4 Native American. Of course folks can tell from my posting that I’m against such woke changes. More anecdotal info … Our mascot at the school where I teach is the Savage. About 70% of our kids are of Native American descent. The one time it was mentioned by some poor unsuspecting person that we might ought to change the mascot there was a Native American uprising. The board room was full to overflowing at that meeting. We are still the Savages.

I wouldn’t say this to a complete stranger but consider…when in high school our center fielder was 100% Native. A typical exchange between us would be, “Good catch, Injun.” …. Followed by, “Thanks, paleface.” He’s been dead for years but I remain close friends with his family until this day. We still talk about those “good ol’ days” when Ray and I were in high school playing baseball together.

I love sports and think it teaches so many positive values and it brings people from all walks of life together competing with each other for a common goal. Now there has to be a base level of respect involved but people can joke about their differences like you described above. I know I experienced playing in Oakland leagues growing up. While it can be bad it can have a lot of good too as people learn we are all much more the same than we are different.

There's nothing better that Trump likes to do than to demagogue an issue, and instigate trouble.

That’s what he’s doing? Silly me, I thought he was stating an opinion. I can see how that stated opinion appeals to “ordinary people,” but I fail to see how it “instigates trouble.” Yes, I went back and re-read what he said before posting this comment. Ain’t seeing it.

I am native American. If find it insulting for them to change their name to be politically correct.

Nobody loathes the pigfucker Trump more than In do, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
