TOKYO — Five out of 6 U.S. athletes competing in the Tokyo Olympics have been vaccinated against Covid-19, the team’s top doctor revealed Friday just before the Games officially begin.
That information was culled from the health histories that 567 of the athletes filled out before they departed for Japan, said Dr. Jonathan Finnoff, who estimated that 83 percent of those competitors were fully vaccinated.
“Eighty-three percent is actually a substantial number, and we’re quite happy with it,” Finnoff, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s medical chief, said.

Everyone at the Games is required to wear masks at all times, socially distance and take standard measures to limit the spread of the virus, such as frequent washing of hands. Some sport-specific measures were also added, such as clapping rather than singing or yelling to cheer on teammates.

I am just sitting back and taking a wider view.
My question is why are they required to wear masks if others decided not to be vaccinated? It's not their fault.
I have difficulty breathing in a face mask. I know some there at the Olympics do too.
