Default “It’s time to start blame the unvaccinated folks”

"Let's be crystal clear about this issue," Ivey said. "The new cases of COVID are because of unvaccinated folks. Almost 100% of the new hospitalizations are with unvaccinated folks. And the deaths are certainly occurring with the unvaccinated folks. These folks are choosing a horrible lifestyle of self-inflicted pain."…

"Folks are supposed to have common sense," she continued. "But it's time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the vaccinated folks. It's the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down. I've done all I know how to do. I can encourage you to do something but I can't make you take care of yourself."

Amazing. Said by the Republican governor of AL. She's right, of course. The anti-vaxxers are killing people and sending us hurling back to lockdown.

Default Alabama governor says ‘it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks’

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey issued an impassioned plea for residents of her state to get vaccinated against Covid-19, arguing it was “time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks” for the disease’s continued spread.

“I want folks to get vaccinated. That’s the cure. That prevents everything,” Ivey, a Republican, told reporters in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday.

“Why would we want to mess around with just temporary stuff?” she said. “We don’t need to encourage people to just go halfway with curing this disease. Let’s get it done. And we know what it takes to get it done.”

Ivey went on to describe the shots as “safe” and “effective,” saying: “The data proves that it works. [It] doesn’t cost you anything. It saves lives.”

But the remarks from the governor grew more pointed when she was pressed on what it would take to get greater numbers of Alabamans vaccinated.

“I don’t know. You tell me,” Ivey said. “Folks [are] supposed to have common sense. But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down.”

At least some in Alabama gets it. I bet Nick Saban and his staff are vaccinated.
    Republican Congressman Ken Buck:
“We’re at a time in American politics, that I am not going to lie on behalf of my presidential candidate, on behalf of my party. And I’m very sad that others in my party have taken the position that, as long as we get the White House, it doesn’t really matter what we say,”

Alabama governor says ‘it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks for the disease’s continued spread.’
That was fast. It only took a few weeks for a prominent conservative to admit what jpp liberals have been saying for weeks.

The speed of the confession is actually surprising. After 18 years, pro-Iraq War posters have still not confessed that maybe they should have listened to anti-war liberals in 2003.

But his statement should be slightly modified for accuracy:
Alabama governor says ‘it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks Republicans for the disease’s continued spread.’
Every reputable poll out there shows party affiliation is the biggest predictor of who is responsibly getting vaccinated.

The right may be responsible for the newest and most dangerous iteration of Covid. They allow it to percolate and send out new forms that are more contagious and lethal. I hope they are proud of that. There will be more strains due to their anti-science stance. Perhaps it will be able to ignore the vaccine and it will decimate millions more. Somehow that is the right of the Trumpys. They can do what they want regardless of how dangerous it is to others.

No one has the right to infect other peoples’ children or the vulnerable population with a deadly virus, in its simplest terms, for the same reason drunk driving isn’t allowed
