    That’s a joke. They might escape the entrapment part on a technicality but it raises the question of whether the thing ever would have happened *were it not for the informants*.

    *This* is the direction Pelosi and the democrats don’t want the 1/6 investigation going in. To say democrats and Trump haters profited immensely from 1/6 is an understatement. So the motive for a set up is right there flashing in neon lights.

    As Revolver has noted, the five people who seem to be the FBI informants were also the people who seemed to have all the kidnapping ideas and access to all the equipment needed for a paramilitary assault on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s vacation home. At one point, the leadership of the conspiracy met, and three of the five people in that discussion were FBI.

    I worked in counterterrorism for more than 10 years, so I understand all the reasons a federal agent would argue this isn’t technically entrapment. The people didn’t know they were surrounded by fedsx and continued to take overt actions that advanced the fantasy conspiracy, and that’s illegal. Okay, fine.

    But this got me thinking about some of the old ISIS and al-Qaeda cases I reviewed when I was helping prosecute terrorists who actually killed people. I remember giving my buddies in the FBI a hard time when they would “win” a domestic terror case and all they had was a kook who had been running his mouth on the internet.

    “Your case is weak,” I would tell them, “And why are you wearing a suit? We’re going to be reading in the SCIF again today. It’s the same things we’ve been doing all year.”

    At the risk of sounding like Tom Nichols some old man sitting on a porch going on about how hard things were in my day, I’m going to say this: There was a time the FBI caught and prosecuted really dangerous people.

    ad hominem attack fallacy. you suck at debating.

    this story is magnified because one of the fbi agents involved just beat the shit out of his wife.

    A special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation involved in the operation that resulted in a group of men being charged for allegedly plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was criminally charged on Monday in connection to a domestic incident.

    Richard Trask was arraigned in a Michigan court on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than a murder charge, after a domestic incident with his wife on Sunday and subsequently released on a $10,000 recognizance bond, according to the Detroit News.

    The link that you provided is for an article that is a reprint from the Washington Examiner, which is a dubious source of news.

    The bottom line is results count. The Liberty Seven case results:

    The five were sentenced on November 20, 2009 by Judge Joan Lenard after a three-day sentencing hearing:

    Narseal Batiste: 162 months in prison, followed by 35 years of supervised release;
    Patrick Abraham: 112.5 months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release;
    Stanley Grant Phanor: 96 months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release;
    Burson Augustin: 72 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release; and
    Rothschild Augustine: 84 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

    Regardless of all the bullshit passed about the FBI by Russian stooges and anti-American dumbasses, the US justice system is fair. Either the FBI has a case or it does not. It will be up to a judge and citizens of the State of Michigan to decide.

    Then post one. The linked story doesn't do it, doesn't come close; or if I missed them quote the damning facts. That the FBI had informants means there should be admissible evidence; doesn't mean the FBI was responsible for any aspect of the affair. But if there's more, let's have it.
